So I finished reading The Hunger last night. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars. I really enjoyed the story. It was definitely creepy.
I would describe the book as the Oregon trail meets the Blair Witch Project. The story takes place in the 1800s and a large group of families looking to relocate out west take the long journey with their livestock as well as belongings in wagons. Along their journey, their luck seems to go from back to worse. Is it bad luck or is something much more sinister?
I thought the development of the story was well written. I found it easy to keep up with the abundance of characters. It was also nice to have little glimpses of the characters past to answer for their current behavior.
The author did a great job in making the reader feel like they were in the time period of the 1800s. It was definitely a somber read and made me grateful to not have lived during those hard times.
I really hope they make a movie based on this book. I think it has a fantastic plot and would be a great thriller of a movie.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a creepy suspenseful thriller.
